Master and Commander

“The bird is flightless right?” - Lucky Jack
Well, not entirely, but I was expecting a little more. Master and Commander was, no doubt, a very good and well produced film. Watching the trailer, and knowing nothing of the plot, I was expecting a battle between two great sea captains. Which it was. But at the same time, it was not entirely that. This movie tried, and was almost successful, in showing how life on a ship would have been in the Spring of 1805.
You can probably tell, if you’ve read this far, that I have mix feelings about this film. In one hand, you have a good movie. In the other, you have a movie that falls short of telling the story that it seems to have tried to tell. Oh well, whenever I feel this way about a film I usually ask myself if I could have done better. And in every case, the answer is definitely “No.”.
Rating? Tough. 3.75 outta 5. Not quite 4, but nearly there. Paul Bettany recieves a 5 out of 5 for his performance seperately. I have not watched a movie with him in it that I haven’t like his performance.
