Star Wars: Clone Wars
No, I am not going to be adding a Star Wars category - this will probably be the last post on the topic for a while.
I have had the privilege of watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated Series and I have a few comments.
Using A Bridge. Having small animated films put together to bridge between the 2nd and 3rd film has been done before, with much success. I feel that in both cases, the bridge was not only well built, but worked well. Using animation, and putting it on TV, will probably result in the following:
- Getting fans fired up, anticipating the next film.
- Gathering even more fans, based on the cartoons being on TV.
- Saving money, cartoons are cheaper than live action by far.
- Filling in a few “gaps” that the 3rd movie would probably bring.
- Possibly creating even more spin offs
All around I believe it was a good move.
Voices. Listening to the Episodes with Commentary, it was stated many times by several of those involved that one of their biggest worries was that they would have a lot of trouble - and receive alot of flack - with the voice overs. I have no complaints, I mean the guy doing Yoda will never be Frank Oz, but I couldn’t do any better.
Runtime. A few have complained about each ‘chapter’ being only about 5 minutes in length.
“It really sucks that they, [the chapters], are only five minutes” - Bryan Jackson
See what I mean. However, I disagree. And yesterday was a perfect example of why I disagree. They were able to play the entire season at once, so that everyone could catch up. I don’t need to explain my reasons, but maybe some of you have your own thoughts on this matter in particular.
Padme bothered me. I wasn’t too happy with Padme, to be honest. But not unhappy enough for entire paragraph full of reasons why.
Did you miss them? I am sure that Cartoon Network will be airing the chapters again, however if your like me and would much rather download them, point your browser to this archive. Please notice that this is not an official site, nor does it seem to be endorsed by any of the creators. However it would seem that the syndication of this content does LucasArts more good than harm. Download them soon though, as I am sure that the page will not be around forever.
Oh yeah, and Season 2 was far better than Season 1.
