2 Gmail Accounts - Going Once

A few days ago, I received an email from Mr. Moll, graciously inviting me to use Gmail. I was very surprised, since I had never asked anyone for a Gmail account. Thank you Cameron.

After using it for, gasp, 3 days - I’ve received the ability to invite a few friends along. Instead of going to eBay and giving it away to the highest bidder, no doubt someone that doesn’t read my blog, I’ve decided to make them available to you - the avid TUG.n reader.

The first, I will be giving away contest style. Best redesign of TUG.n Contest. I am not a designer, as you can tell, and I usually sub-contract most of my design work. However, I’d really like to get a better looking face on the TUG.n. You will have 7 days (from time of post) to provide me with the following:

1. A TUG.n Logo (preferably in Illustrator, but not mandatory)
2. A layout, design (with all buttons, or backgrounds and gradients) in Photoshop
3. XHTML 1.0 Trans Valid WordPress Template (download original here)
4. CSS Valid style sheet (whatever version you choose)

I’ve been thinking that I’d like to have a design that resembles the style of the Oceans 11 and new Oceans 12 posters - if that helps you get started. If you have any questions, or concerns, you can email me about them.

The second Gmail account will be given away to whoever can provide TUG.n with Unix-based hosting for an entire year. Here are the desired specifications for the hosting.

• Apache Web Server
• PHP (4+)
• mySQL
• phpMyAdmin (I can install myself)
• At least 500Mb of space
• At least 5 email addresses (POP and Web Access)
• SPAM and Virus Filtering a plus
• Anything else you think I’m missing

I realize that the second is a lot to ask, so any help with this is much appreciated. I’ve looked at a few Unix hosts, and so far I’ve narrowed it down to a select few. All submissions for the hosting must be sent to me via email, and not posted in the comments. Any submissions posted in the comments will not qualify.

Update: We’ve got a winner for the Unix Hosting. The winner will be announced once all the details have been hashed out. Please continue working on your redesigns, and get them to me as soon as possible to be illegible for the other Gmail account. Thanks to all who have participated thus far.

Update: I no longer have any Gmail invites to give away. When/if they start giving them out again, I’ll let everyone have one in these comments.
