The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

This weekend had a lot of ups and downs for me. Regardless, it was one of the best weekends in recent memory.

The Ugly
This ugliness probably couldn’t get any uglier. As Colin mentioned, the Eagles got stomped by the Steelers. It wasn’t that big of a deal for me that they lost. I never expected (but did wish) that they would have an undefeated season. If they had beat the Steelers I would have had to say that they could have accomplished this.

I wasn’t upset that they lost, it was just I wasn’t expecting such a lopsided defeat. I knew the Steelers would play them tough. I knew they would run the ball and run it A LOT. I thought the Eagles would take their gashes but then shore up when they got in the redzone. It didn’t quite pan out that way however. The Eagles allowed a score on the Steelers first three possessions. This was truly shocking to me since they were known for tightening up when it got close to the goal line. Once they were down 21-0 I knew it would be tough, if not impossible, to come back from such a deficit. I thought they would at least score one touchdown, they didn’t. They got one field goal. This was truly shocking knowing how explosive this Eagles offense can potentiallly be.

Hey, they are still 7-1 and I can’t have any complaints about that. I just hope the weaknesses that were exposed by the Steelers will be corrected so other teams will not exploit them.

The Bad
There wasn’t any bad really, but the title of the post wouldn’t have worked without it. Ah, I thought of something, the weekend was too short.

The Good
The Used. The Used. The Used.

What about The Used? Well, first off, they are a sweet band. Secondly, I saw them in concert on Sunday night and they put on a KILLER show.

It was well worth the drive to Jersey. Some may yell at me because I could have just went to Philly on Thursday. The reason I got those tickets was because originally Head Automatica, fronted by Glassjaw lead singer, Daryl Palumo, were supposed to be on the bill. Daryl unfortunately underwent surgery for a recurrence of Chron’s Disease, so he had to back out. Regardless, the show was well worth the trip.

No Warning, The Bronx, and the Bled were the openers and they all put on a respectable show. The Bled was probably the best out of the opening bunch.

After a LONG intermission between the Bled and the Used, Bert and Crew took to the stage. They kicked off the show with an energetic performance of “Take It Away”. They joked with the crowd. They did some disgusting stuff. Most importantly, they rocked the hizouse. Seriously, they had an energy that blew you away. They were jumping around like animals and screaming their lungs out. Also, I thought they might not sound that good live, especially Bert and his voice. However, my expectations were passed when they sounded much better than imagined live. Another thing that was cool was that the venue was small enough that you could get up to the front very easily. This concert was hot, sweaty, loud, and rowdy. I would have it no other way.

If anyone has the opportunity to check them out in Philly this Thursday, I would highly recommend the show. It’s at the Electric Factory, which is much larger than the venue they played in Jersey, so it might be hard to get as close as you’d like.
