Hold the phone and stop the presses because joking is no longer allowed. Anyone that jokes in TheUberGeeks.net’s comments will no longer be allowed to comment. Should you try to comment again, you will be greated with a message stating that your comment doesn’t justify a second chance.

OK so I would never do something this stupid, but Owen of Asymtomatic has done just that to me, for joking.

Owen here is a little info on me

I’ve been using the Web since 1994 (or thereabouts) and have had my own personal Web site since 1996. I guess you could say I’ve blogged since before blogging was blogging.

Each and every day, I read hundreds of well-written articles from hundreds of Web logs and news sources from around the world. As I find Web sites of interest, I add them to my list of daily reads to keep up-to-date.

My side of the story

On the 23rd of November 2004, merely three days ago, I stumbled onto your article about having a CSS Headache (something I can relate to) and I decided to comment to hopefully steer you in a direction to help you get rid of that headache. You made it abundantly clear that I was way off base, and I’m sorry that the article couldn’t help you out, I was obviously mistaken.

The very next day you posted about how you thought there was a security breach at your daughter’s day care. Since your Web site had made it into my RSS reader, I read the post. I thought it was ironic that you were documenting a process to breach the security hole you’d found. Ironic is all Owen, ironic. So, sarcastically I commented stating that you’d done a jolly good job jotting down the very way to defeat the system which keeps your daughter safe from crazy perverts.

Day three: I fire up my RSS reader to see that you’ve written a new post. Being that you only publish summaries of your entries to RSS, I navigated my way to your site to read the rest of the entry. I found out that you’d replied to my sarcastic comment (which you could have deleted if you found it offensive) and decided to comment back appologizing for my use of humor on your Web site. I was greated with this message:

Sorry but the total effect of your comment’s actions and conduct during the successive phases of its existence, did not justify giving it a second chance in this world of pain and misery…

In other words: it got trashed.
Bad Karma, man, bad karma…

“..the total effect of your comment’s actions and conduct” ? I was kidding Owen!

Owen, I’m sorry if commenting on your blog makes me an ass by osmosis, but really I meant nothing by it. I was merely sarcastically commenting about the irony of your entry is all.

Seriously, blocking me is something that is totally within your power. It’s your Web site, not mine. I’m merely expressing my shock that given the fact that I’d only commented twice on your Web site warranted being completely blocked from further comments.

Owen, feel free to comment on my blog from now until the end of time. I will never delete any of your comments, nor will I ever block you from making any. I mean seriously, if I haven’t blocked this guy, why would I block you?
