Everyone associated with TUG.n send our thoughts to the countless thousands involved directly and indirectly with the recent Indian Ocean tradegy.

For those of you who have not heard, here are a few links to help you follow the story.

Addendum: The Earthquake which caused the tsunamis was calculated to be between 8.2 and 9.0. Certainly one of the stronger Earthquakes within the last century. The tsunamis themselves have caused more than 23,000 44,000 tens of thousands deaths and countless wounded and displaced communities.

I believe one of the most amazing parts of this story is that a tragedy of this size not being confined to one city, nor one country but a many many countries and thousands being effected in each.

Update (12/28/2004:5:16EST): It appears the death toll will be rising for quite sometime. The number, which started at around 10,000, has now climbed and shot well past 50,000 with estimates going as high as 80,000 expected. I think it will be at least a month before a final estimate is tallied, especially since many thousands of bodies people floated out to sea, and are considered missing.
