Hopeless
Song: Hopeless
Artist: Train
Album: Drops of Jupiter
Why This Song? The last couple weeks that I haven’t posted a SOTW I have been in a much more radio-friendly mood. No, I have not abandoned my screamo/hardcore tendancies, but I have been in a much softer mood lately. With that being said I could have chose from a bunch of great bands that I have been listening to: Matchbox 20, Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, and Train, to name a few. I decided to go with Train because I think they are the least popular out of the bunch and they deserve some recognition, even if its just from a loser like me.
“Hopeless” is by far my favorite song off of “Drops of Jupiter”. It is a very soft song, as are most Train songs. This song has a very relaxing feel to it and lyrically I feel it’s the best on the album. (“I’d tell it to your face /but you lost along the way / I’d say it on the phone / if I thought you were alone / why do things have to change? / Is anybody waiting at all for you? / Cause it’s time that will tell this tale”) The emotion seems real and you can relate to it easily without it being repetive and trite.
I’m sure most of you have heard at least a couple songs from Train. If you are like me though, you probably wouldn’t have ran out and bought their albums just based off the songs on the radio. However, I feel that every one of their albums are worth the price of purchase, except the live album, “Alive at Last”.
