Search Engine War good for all

There are not many wars that are good. Price wars, as we all know, are great for consumers. Search Engine Wars, which have recently begun churning again, is great for the Internet user.

Almost daily Google, Yahoo and MSN are releasing new features and abilities for their respective search engines. Although it might be confusing to switch back and forth, depending on the feature you’re looking for, we will see all of these features trickle back to each of the competitors over time.

Search engines will continually become easier, faster and more concise. As time goes by we will all wonder how we did without some of the features that are bound to come out of this war.

When will it end? Hopefully never. I will probably continue to use Google regardless of what features Yahoo and MSN rollout, simply because I don’t have to deal with the portal nor Microsoft. That doesn’t mean that these other companies do not have value in the work they are doing. Searching the entire Internet is a huge job. And to see 3 companies striving to be the best is exciting.

I can’t wait to see the next set of features, which will probably be tomorrow, since every single day these companies are rolling something out. These are good times for us, and for them.
