Why This Song? I apologize for the delay these last couple of weeks on getting you a SOTW or even saying anything. I have been extremely busy and have had my time occupied with other things.
This week’s SOTW is by one of my newest favorite bands. My Chemical Romance is an awesome mix of pop and punk. They feature some of the catchiest tunes with a crazy mix of goth lyrics. They mix fun a sound musically with dark tones in their songwriting. However, you can’t really take most of the lyrics seriously. Most seem to be written as a joke or to be taken as symbolic.
Thank You for the Venom has one of the hardest riffs on the album and is hard not to sign along with. Even my brother, Ryan, likes these guys and this song and he is not usually a huge fan of this type of music.
What is this song about? I have no idea what it means to the band, but I know what it means to me. Do I care? Not really. It’s dark, its loud, its good fun, and it has personal meaning to me. In the end that’s all that matters.
For the fans of the lighter stuff, I would recommend this album before their first album, because that album is substantially screamier and heavier. If you like this song, I would also recommend “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”, “Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You”, and “Helena”.
