Relating to the Macintosh

Not so long ago, I wrote an entry about having trouble finding good “switcher” articles. Well, that problem has yet to be solved. However, some interesting discussion ensued via email with many, whom I consider, “smart people” on the subject of what should be provided.

It became apparently clear that providing a comprehensive list of articles dealing with the substantial differences, whether advantageous or not, between the Windows and Macintosh platforms, would be nearly impossible. Bias and inexperience run rampant in such articles. For instance, when I switched, I did my best to not shout only praise. However, it still ended up coming across as though I thought that the Macintosh platform was God’s gift to man.

Such is the case with almost every “switcher” article out there. And for good reason. When you get a new device, car or home you’re prone to point out all of the “awesome” features. Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t have purchased the product to begin with.

So, to make an informed decision about switching from Windows to the Macintosh platform, you would do well to simply go to an Apple store and play with one. That is the purpose of Apple’s retail effort.
