Podcast flood

As you all update to iTunes 4.9 don’t expect to simply fly in and subscribe to your favorite podcasts. As of right now many shows are unavailable, and slowly that effect is making it’s way around to each feed I try.

The iTunes music store is used by millions on top of millions of people per day. By days end, I’m sure that millions would have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and started to poke at the Podcasts.

The servers which host these Podcasts have never seen a response like this, guaranteed. The simple fact that the only people that have been listening to Podcasts to-date are those who were RSS savvy enough to subscribe on their own - as well as those who were already into podcasting and figured it out on their own. Still that audience has now been multiplied thousands of times over.

Look for a podcast hosting service to be offered by Apple sometime in the future. Perhaps a .Mac add-on?
