Switch to Inferno
Damn, sometimes I hate blogs and the stupid things people do with them, It irks me. I’m sure you all remember the “Make me switch” guy who made such an appealing case (I don’t have money for a Mac, get me one) and raised enough money to get a 20″ Core Duo iMac (don’t get me started here, a Mac mini would’ve been less stupid to ask for). Well there have been others doing the same thing (no link love for you losers), and now others are trying to get your money with the most idiotic campaings.
Let’s start with the Mac OS X to Linux recent events, and how someone is trying to get a hold of your money because of that. John Gruber made sure we all knew Mark Pilgrim was ditching Apple a while ago. Mark wrote some very interesting articles about it and for the most part I enjoyed John’s responses to those articles, it was entertaining. But it’s not like I gave a damn about Mark switching his OS, it was his and John’s little arguments that made me waste a few hours pretending like I cared about it. Again, I didn’t care for his decision and you bet I won’t waste my time with another blogger ditching Mac OS X, and I’ll go back to Windows before I spend my money on a guys tattoo, yea read on.
Ttoday, a friend mentioned Cory Doctorow (boingboing is one of the blogs I never read) was following Mark to the promised OS. Big whoop, right?. Well as I said, I couldn’t care less. Now, Cory has an Apple tattoo (again, is this exciting for anyone else?) and some guy started a Dropcash campaign to raise $1000 and help Cory remove the tattoo. Yes, someone wants you to use your money to help some guy get rid of a tattoo. What the heck!. I mean dude, there are floods forcing people to leave their homes, and you want to help some guy get rid of a tattoo?. Granted, the guy says if Cory doesn’t want the tattoo removed with that money (or not removed at all) the funds will go to charity. Cory is not poor, I’m sure he doesn’t need strangers paying for his tattoo removal process, so why would you even start this campaign?.
The “Make me switch” guy looks like less of a loser now asking for that money, I mean at least the guy was pro Apple, but wasting your hard earned cash on a donation to remove some guy’s tattoo just because he decided to stop using the company it was about? I don’t know about you, but it sounds completely stupid and irrational to me.
So. No I do not care about Cory ditching Apple, nor did I care for Mark P. but at least that proved to be great reading material. I think it’s stupid to ask for donations to remove Cory’s tattoo, Jonathan (of toxic software), think about it. And you’re just a loser if you ask people to buy a Mac for you.
Then again, I may be on the wrong side of this. Perhaps I’ll ditch Apple as well, and ask people for money to buy me a Dell XPS to run Vista (crossing fingers for it to run fine though). Haha, go get yourself a Jack Daniels and enjoy the rest of day.

I totally agree with you, and chalk it up to the fact that people are idiots (both the people asking for money and the people giving the money.)
I say this fully aware of the fact that I just donated twenty bucks the other day to a friend of a friend’s racing team. But at least I get a little prize out of it.

You really need to re-calibrate your sarcasm detection meter.

Josue, for your safety, I’m going to assume that the last little comment (the Dell one!) was sarcasm.
If you made huge amounts of fun of my Dell and then made me (ok ok, you didn’t make me, per se) get a frigging Mac only to buy a Dell, I am going to kill you.

Well, I don’t know, i’m starting to like those Dell Inspirons, and I can always install Tiger on them illegally, it’s just that Dell hardware is starting to look very very interesting.
