Ask the geeks: Coming soon
Something new! Want to ask us a question? Do you have the need for some help on a particular problem, topic, application, etc? You can ask us! Ask a question, and we’ll answer it via a post on TUG!
How does it work? Easy. In the comment section of this post, ask a question. And then, we’ll pick one - and one of us that is best suited to answer the question will do so within a few days. We’ll research the topic, find some resources to back up our answers, and we’ll jot down the answer in an easy to understand manner (well, at least we’ll try).
Best of all, it will be completely free. And I don’t mean free like “if you purchase something it will be free”. Its free. Any question, any question at all.
Here some ideas to get you started. You can ask what Chris thinks of a specific album. You can ask a programming question. You can ask Josue how to roll a joint in Costa Rica when all you have is stuff found on a beach! You can ask Mike how to care for a reptile! Anything!!
So, what do you wanna know? Round one will be based on the questions you post now.

Chris Coleman: Do you mean any browser? Safari, OmniWeb, Firefox? Or any specific plugin?

In your opinion, what are the main reasons someone might want to use Photoshop for web-design, as opposed to say, Fireworks? I ask this because it seems 99% of designers use Photoshop, but why?
Rock on

Good question. It’s always hard to say having never used fireworks. I guess its the fact that Photoshop came first with web options such as ’save for web’ etc. It also just took the industry by storm by offering lots of cool filters and image optimisation tools.
