Colin’s MacWorld 2007 wishes
MacWorld is happening on January 9th. Right around the corner. I figured I’d take a few minutes to jot down my wishes (not predictions as most other people are doing) for what we’ll see from Steve Jobs during his Keynote.
Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” will hopefully have some of the changes that I documented as my wishes for Leopard. Namely the changes I asked for in Safari, Mail, iChat, and the Finder.
iLife ‘07 is in need of some serious updates. Obviously the addition of iWeb and some polish in iLife ‘06 was great, but I’m not interested in the suite of applications growing at all - I wish for nothing but feature updates, improvements, and bug fixes.
I’ve mentioned iPhoto many times here on TUG.n - but there are two features that I am looking for above all others at this point. 1) The ability to quickly geo-tag photos from within iPhoto. We know there was something hidden in the last release so hopefully that will end up being part of the next release. 2) Being able to store full-res versions of my photos on an external drive while keeping smaller and lower-res versions on my laptop drive. This would help save a tremendous amount of space and I am hoping that some of the features that I’ve seen in Aperture end up making their way into iPhoto ‘07.
iMovie could use a boost in its features although I think it is a really great application. I really like how it compiles some things “in the background” as does iDVD I just wish it did these things a little bit quicker than they currently do. If I purchase the latest and greatest hardware from Apple I suspect it to help the performance of iMovie and iDVD a little more than it has seemed to.
“iTV” will hopefully have a name we all like. I have to say that at first I didn’t like the name Macbook, but it grew on me quite quickly. iTV, even though I’ve heard about it for the last few months, has still not grown on me so I am hoping that its name changes on the 9th. What do I want to see from iTV? I want it to ship, quickly, so that I can buy one. However I’m guessing I will need to update my router then? Or will it connect to the iTV separately from my network and not need to connect to the same wifi network? I’m unsure how it will all pan out but I’m hoping that after spending the money on an iTV I don’t have to spend even more money to get it to work.
Other than that I just hope we don’t have to wait until fall for Leopard.
What are you waiting for at MacWorld? Predictions? Hopes? Dreams?
