I can’t get Coherence Mode to work
I just upgrade my copy of Parallels to the latest beta because I wanted to try out Coherence Mode. I’ve been unable to get it to work properly.
According to Parallels help, it is pretty straight forward to put Parallels into Coherence Mode (just click the Coherence Mode button) and I also have all of the system and software requirements for it to work.
I do not get any errors when I click on Coherence Mode - in fact I don’t get any type of message. I have reported this to the development team through their “Report a bug” feature, though I couldn’t give them too many details since Parallels does not provide any type of error when Coherence Mode does not work properly.
I’ve tried several things that I could think of; like setting my Windows and Mac OS X screen resolutions to be identical (thinking that had something to do with it). I’ve tried switching to Full Screen Mode (which works fine) first, then moving into Coherence Mode. Nothing I seem to try works, and I’ve read just about every form of documentation on the subject that I’ve been able to find.
Anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions on how I might be able to get it to work properly?

Have you upgraded Parallels Tools within your Windows installation? That’s the only thing that I can think of.

Jeff Smith: I did, after Chris Coleman had told me to do so. And the tools appear to be running properly in the task bar.

Nate: When I do find the answer, I will post it here. It could just be that it is because it is a beta version - but I am not sure.

here is the trick to get it working I had the same problem and followed these steps and it worked!!!
Here is the coherence solution - it worked for me:
1. Let the tools install normally and let the installer reboot the computer
2. Go into C:\Program Files\Paralllels\Parallels Tools\
3. Rename cohrence.exe to coherence.exe (i.e. proper spelling)
4. Uninstall Parallels Tools by going to the Apple Menu, Actions>Install Parallels Tools
5. The Parallels Tools folders and coherence.exe will remain on the hard drive and they should
6. Install Parallels Tools again by going the Apple Menu, Actions>Install Parallels Tools
7. Let the computer reboot and coherence will work!
Good Luck
