And why is this a good thing? What sites do you have a problem with? The few sites I know that use this I feel are useful and I wouldn't want to disable the feature.

Well, let's see, Macworld.com and washingtonpost.com for starters. I can understand why they add it to the pages, since they always want the new stories to show up but I'd still like the option of turning it off.

If I'm studying the layout/grid of a site and it keeps refreshing itself that is extremely annoying to me.

Although there are not a ton of sites that do this, that I visit daily, I can definitely see this being useful.

Zach,

The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Dallas Morning News, the USAToday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegramt; I have these tabs open every day and may have several news stories open from each. If I want the page refreshed I will refresh it. If they want to refresh the page they can ask. When I am looking at one of their home pages and have right clicked on a story to choose open in new tab - I don't want them pushing a page refresh to me at that very moment. And sometimes that page refresh includes complete removal of the item I was preparing to click on which then forces me to go searching for the item.

If you like websites pushing content refreshes to you without you having any choice, more power to you. In direct reply to your questions "And why is this a good thing?" and "What sites do you have a problem with?" - I hope you find my reply detailed enough to make it clear to you how this user totally appreciates restoration of MY control over the content displayed on my computer.

Best Regards,

Phil
