Photoshop online?

It is being rumored that Adobe will be bringing Photoshop online as a service within the next six months. What are your thoughts on this?

I love web applications. I use many everyday. However, I continue to keep this long list of applications that I think should never become web-only applications. I never thought to add Photoshop to that list, because I never thought Adobe (or anyone else) would try to do something so complex through the browser.

Why do I think this is a bad idea? Because Photoshop is an absolute bear and running an application that could even come close feature-wise would be a huge strain on current technologies. I think it’d be really fun to play with, a great way to collaborate with other designers, etc. - but I do not feel that it would be widely used for everyday work. That and forcing people to be online and connected to the Internet in order to design a logo seems like a stretch.

What do you think?
