New Lost orientation video for station 6 (season 4 sneak peak)

There’s a new orientation video that was just released at Comic-con for a station we didn’t know existed. It’s called “The Orchid” and I assume it will play a big part of the 4th and upcoming season of Lost. Here it is:

It’s definitely weird and you better watch it a few times. I did noticed a few images in some frames of the video which make no sense at all but we all know they mean something, so let’s look at them and try to figure them out:

So 39 seconds into the video we get a weird image of a guy wearing glasses and sporting a beard. Is that Micheal?

Second 39

This is second 39 in the video.

Ten seconds later we get a tall building with what seems like an odd huge shadow on it, look:

Second 49

This is second 49 in the video.

One minute and nine seconds into it we get the familiar “God loves you as he loved Jacob” message:

1 minute 9 seconds

1:09 in the video.

And last but not least, we get a shot 1 minute and 42 seconds in of a bike, a tree and some houses. Oh yeah, it’s also rotated 180 degrees. It looks to me like the Others village. See for yourself:

1 minute 42 seconds

1:42 in the video.

That’s not all. There is something weird about the rabbits. The one being held has the number 15 on it, but the other one which apparently caused a problem seems to also have the number 15 on it. I believe they say in the video that it’s number 13 but look at the frame:

1 minute 30 seconds

This is a close up of the rabbit causing the problems. 1:30 in the video.

And here’s a shot of rabbit 15, the one the doctor had in his arms:

second 36

Clearly the other one shouldn’t be a 15 too, but it’s clear to me that’s the number on it. Also, you can hear a countdown in the background as they try to figure out what happened, “five, four, three..”. There’s a lot more to the video but I figure this is a good place to start.

So that’s it, please share your thoughts, maybe you guys are better at figuring this out than I am.

P.S.: Yay for Lost. Season 4 starts January 2008.

Quicktime 7.2 broke my FrontRow!

Well, not exactly. FrontRow still performs as it should. But updgrading to Quicktime 7.2 has disabled my ability to watch downloaded AVIs (in Divx or other formats) from within FrontRow.

This sorta ticks me off because, as you probably do too, I love to watch stuff I downloaded from the Internet or via my Tivo through FrontRow. It turns my laptop in a media center!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to repair this by simply redownloading all of the codecs?

Adjust screen brightness to save battery life

This seems like such a no-brainer but no matter how many times I tell someone this “trick” everyone always seems amazed. This trick was told to me by Cris Pearson of plasq when he first showed me Skitch in San Francisco.

The keyboard

The Macbook keyboard has screen brightness controls

If you are going to be without power for any long period of time, such as at a conference or at a coffee shop, simply turn down your brightness to squeeze some extra time out of your battery.

On my Macbook I can get almost 5-hours of runtime by turning my screen brightness down to the lowest level possible. This helps out substantially when I’m at an event where power outlets are scarce or are not where the action is.
