Will you be a Battlefield Hero?
Battlefield Heroes, a new game coming from EA Games, is a download-for-free and play-for-free cartoon shooter. It has a social network, matchmaking, and character customizations, and much more. Here is the trailer.
I’m still trying to figure out the angle they will have for making money off of this game. Research? Perhaps it will have a points system behind it to unlock characters, levels, game modes, etc. I don’t know - but I like the idea of being able to jump in for free.
I just hope it is available for the Macintosh.

Fortunately, I remember reading somewhere that EA was starting to release games on the Mac platform. BF2142 and beyond of the series are all supposed to be available on Intel Macs.

All I can say is that I hope it runs as smooth as it looks from the video. Seems like it would be something interesting to try nonetheless. I wouldn’t doubt it if they started their whole promotion for free gameplay and then have downloadable add-ons that you could purchase. Or maybe they’re just hoping for donations as a source for profit, almost like that selling technique Radiohead did for their album “In Rainbows.” All we can do is wait and see.
